The Indian government made new rules to deal with stray dogs. The rules start on July 1, 2023. They make it easier for cities to catch, sterilize, and vaccinate stray dogs

The rules also let cities put down dangerous dogs. Some people like the rules, but some animal groups don’t.

The government thinks the rules are fair for both people and animals. Cities in India will follow the rules and check if they work after one year.

New rules have been made to help with India’s stray dog problem. Municipalities must create dog pounds where stray dogs can be held for up to 14 days.

The dogs will be sterilized and vaccinated against rabies. If a dog is dangerous, it can be put down.

Pet dog owners must register their animals with the municipality, or they will be fined.

These rules will make India’s streets safer by reducing the number of dog bites and rabies cases.

To solve India’s stray dog issue, we can:

  • Make vet care cheaper and easier for stray dogs.
  • Tell people about spaying and neutering.
  • Suggest adopting strays instead of buying from stores.
  • Make more safe shelters for them.

This will lessen the number of stray dogs in India and make it better for everyone.
